The Black Summer: Realities of the Climate Crisis in Australia

One year ago, Australia was hit by a bushfire season of unprecedented scale and intensity, causing widespread environmental destruction and loss of property, and life. Now eclipsed by the pandemic and the US election, among many both memorable and chaotic moments of 2020, last year’s devastating phenomenon is only a distant memory to many. Yet, thirty-three human lives were lost, over 3,000 homes were destroyed, and three billion animals were killed or displaced.
